Delicious Irony
Your Boulevardier walked past the McDonald's construction site on Castro Valley's Fast Food Island today. The forms for the foundation are up. And a pile of Wendy's wrappers and cups could be seen on the lot. Construction workers can be big eaters.
(More posts are coming, and Your Boulevardier hopes soon. However, the holidays have interfered with the writing and reporting, if not the exploring. One other bit of news to be shared at this time: the Trusty BoulevarDog had her stitches out on December 26 and is well on the mend.)

Congrats to TBD. Stitches are better out than in. I wonder if Micky D's sees the irony in construction site litter?
Drats, I was disappointed to hear that another Mickey D's was going back on the lot. I was hoping for another Starbucks, after all we only have three on the boulevard now. Maybe you could stop by the construction sight and encourage them to turn the building into a Elephant Bar or a Panera, please, anything but another fast food joint.
Speaking of restaurants, what's the deal with the old A&W/Capers site across the street from Rudy's? I think it's been months since anything has been done there.
I can't say I'm too disappointed about McDonald's going back up next to Wendy's because it was known before the demolition that a new McDonald's would be going back in. Still, it would be nice to have something different, even if it were another fast food joint. Arby's, Sonic, In & Out, or Carl's Jr would be better than a second McDonald's. It seems odd that a town this size needs two McDonald's, two Subways, and four Starbucks (counting the one in Safeway).
