More Window Vandalism
Your Boulevardier notes that a large window at Eden Bicycles in Castro Village was boarded up yesterday afternoon. Asking in the shop about the circumstances, he learned that nothing was taken from the store; the vandals simply broke the window and ran. So the spree continues, but has now moved off the Boulevard.

I'll never understand destruction just fun. People work hard to have nice stores, cars, yards, whatever. Why would someone delight in destroying that instead of admiring it? I truly don't understand the point.
Sadly, it seems vandalism like this points to someone in our own community. At least with robbery, one can imagine it was done by an out-of-towner. There was car vandalism on our street that seemed equally pointless: trying to pull off the license plate, failing, and leaving it hanging by a bolt. Speaking of foolish behavior: a couple of months ago in the middle of the night, we heard a loud crash. My husband ran outside and discovered that someone had made off with our garbage can by heaving it, trash and all, into the back of a pickup truck. It was waiting outside on the curb with the recycling and organic cans, too, but they weren't taken. There are many mysteries out there...

I talked to the owner of Crush Comics and he said the same thing. Smashed window and nothing taken. I'm glad that nothing was taken, but the random violence needs to stop.
